OPEN HEAVENS DEVOTIONAL – FRIDAY – 29/08/2014 – WHEN REVIVAL COMES I BY PASTOR E.A. ADEBOYE

greater works

Memorise
Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
Psalm 85:6

Read
Psalm 85:4-7
4 Turn us, O God of our salvation, and cause thine anger toward us to cease.
5 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever? wilt thou draw out thine anger to all
generations?
6 Wilt thou not revive us again: that thy people may rejoice in thee?
7 Shew us thy mercy, O LORD, and grant us thy salvation.

Message
In spiritual parlance, revival presupposes that backsliding has hitherto taken
place. In other words, it is when people abandon their spiritual fervency that
the need for revival becomes inevitable. In Christianity, revival is a term that
generally refers to an increased spiritual interest or renewal in the life of a
congregation or church, either regionally or globally. This should not be
misconstrued with evangelistic meetings that churches conduct to bring…

MEMORISE : And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny
himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me. LUKE 9 : 23.

READ : MARK 8 : 34 – 37.
34 And when he had called the people unto him with his disciples also, he said
unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his
cross, and follow me.
35 For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life
for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.
36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his
own soul?
37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

greater works

MEMORISE : For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited
the blessing, he was rejected: for he found no place of repentance, though he
sought it carefully with tears. HEBREWS 12 : 17.

READ : HEBREWS 12 : 9 – 12.
9 Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we
gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the
Father of spirits, and live?
10 For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but
he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.
11 Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous:
nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto
them which are exercised thereby.
12 Wherefore lift up the hands which hang down, and the feeble knees;
